Choosing colour and texture
How to choose a colour and texture you will be happy with, and why you sign off on a real sample before any work starts.

Colour and texture are the most personal part of a seamless project. Because the surface is one continuous plane, the choice carries across the whole room, so it is worth taking your time.
Why a real sample matters
Colour on a screen is unreliable, and small printed swatches can look quite different once they are in your home. Light changes everything: north light, a window with a view of trees, a bathroom with a skylight, an evening with lamps on.
That is why you sign off colour and texture on a real sample before work starts. We bring samples to the Site Assessment, so you can see them in your own light, against your own fittings and joinery.
How to approach colour
- Look at the sample at different times of day.
- Hold it next to your fixtures, cabinetry and any surface that will stay.
- Consider how much natural light the room gets.
- Think about how the colour will feel across a whole floor or wall, not just a small piece.
Lighter tones tend to feel open and quiet. Deeper tones feel more dramatic and enclosed. Neither is better. It depends on the room and on you.
Texture
Texture is the other half of the choice. A surface can be softer and more cloudy, or more even and restrained. It comes from the finish coats and the hand of the person applying them, which is one reason it is a hand-applied surface rather than a product out of a tin.
In wet areas, texture also connects to grip and cleaning. Texture also affects slip resistance, and we talk through what suits each area at the Site Assessment.
Carrying it through
One of the strengths of a seamless system is that the same finish can run across floors, walls and, where it suits the design, ceilings. That is a design decision as much as a practical one, and it is worth discussing early.
Sign-off before work
Nothing starts until you have approved the sample. That is the point of the process: no surprises on the day. After that, the install follows a clear path, with daily photo updates, a handover and a check-up at 24 months.
If you are still at the idea stage, a Project Fit Call is a good place to talk through colour direction before we arrange the Site Assessment.
