What does a seamless bathroom or floor cost in Melbourne?

Typical price ranges for a seamless microcement bathroom or living floor in Melbourne, and the things that move the number up or down.

Cost is usually the first question, and it deserves a straight answer. Every home is different, so we give ranges here, and a fixed price only after we have seen the space.

Typical ranges

  • Seamless bathrooms typically range from $12,000 to $25,000 + GST.
  • A large open-plan living floor typically ranges from $35,000 to $40,000 + GST.

These are typical ranges, not quotes. Where your project lands depends on the factors below, which is why we do not publish a rate per square metre. A single number per square metre hides most of what actually drives the price.

What moves the price

Six things account for most of the difference between one project and another.

  • Number of surfaces. Floors only is simpler than floors, walls and ceilings carried through as one continuous finish.
  • Substrate condition and preparation. A sound, flat surface needs less work than one that needs repair or levelling first. Every substrate is tested and prepared before a single coat goes on.
  • Whether a waterproofing membrane is in scope. In wet areas the finish goes over a compliant membrane. MicroLux can install and certify this as part of one system.
  • Wet-area detailing. Showers, niches, benches and drainage points all need careful detailing.
  • Access. Stairs, parking and distance from the work area all affect how a job is run.
  • Priority scheduling. Lead time is usually 6 to 8 weeks. If you need to be earlier, paid priority scheduling is available.

Why a fixed price

After the Site Assessment, you receive a fixed-price proposal, presented on Zoom. Fixed price means nothing changes without your written approval. You know the number before work starts.

Time on site is part of that proposal. It depends on the size and complexity of the bathroom and how much surface preparation is needed. The best case is 5 to 6 working days on site, including handover. Larger or more complex bathrooms take longer, and the exact timing is confirmed in your proposal.

The Site Assessment is about one hour on site, and you receive a written report. It is where we test the substrate, confirm the specification, and work out whether a membrane is needed, so the price reflects your actual home.

What the price includes

The proposal covers the whole system, not just the finish: preparation, primer, base coats where required, the Super Titanium finish, filler and protective topcoat, installation by our own specialists, daily photo updates, and a care kit at handover. It also includes a free on-site check-up at 24 months.

You also receive a 5-year workmanship warranty from MicroLux and a 10-year product warranty from Atria Australia, both transferable to a new owner.

How to think about the comparison

When comparing with tiles or timber, it helps to look at the full picture: materials, waterproofing, labour, time on site, and what you will be maintaining over the years. We have written separate guides comparing seamless bathrooms with tiles and seamless floors with tiles, timber, hybrid and polished concrete, and we try to be fair about where the alternative is a reasonable choice.

The next step

If you would like a number for your own home, the first step is a short Project Fit Call on Zoom with our team. From there we can arrange a Site Assessment and a fixed-price proposal.
